How long does an import take?

Small files (under 500 matters) → usually a few seconds. Larger imports → may take a few minutes; Folio will send you a notification when done.

My Matter file won’t upload into Folio. What should I do?

Make sure it’s the CSV export file. Check that the file is not too large (split into multiple exports if needed).

Matter only stores saved links (not always cached content). If the original site is gone, Folio won’t be able to fetch the full article text.

To export your saved content from Matter as a CSV file and receive it via email, follow these steps:

Once you've received the Matter CSV file in your email, follow these steps to import your Matter saves to Folio:

Click the ⚙️ Settings icon in the Folio app's bottom navigation bar.
Select the Import option from the Settings page.
Choose Matter (.ZIP, .CSV).
Folio will open a file explorer where you can upload your Matter CSV file.
Confirm that you're uploading the correct Instapaper CSV file.
Wait for the import process to complete.
Check the success message when the import process finishes.
